Waimea Markets
The Waimea Town farmers market is organized every Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon in front of the Parker School in the center of Waimea. The vendor’s stalls surround a grassy area with picnic tables, where you can sit down and enjoy your just purchased fresh food.
The Waimea Town farmers market is your best choice of for freshly prepared (hot) food. You can i.e. buy fresh bread from a wood-fired stone oven, and food prepared by top chefs. One of these chefs was sous chef at Mauna Kea for 12 years, another is the current chef at Merriman’s in Waimea).
The Waimea Town Market, held every Saturday in the Parker School yard, opened in September, 2008 with nine vendors. The Market has continued to grow and is now home to over 30 vendors and showcases a wide diversity of products. Offering gourmet meals, and plenty of community-friendly picnic table space to eat and converse, the Market has become a favorite Saturday morning gathering place for residents and visitors alike. Live music is often on tap, and the Market regularly hosts free events for all.
The Market is run for the benefit of Parker School by un-paid volunteers; vendor rents are therefore passed directly to the school and provide a big boost to the school’s educational programs. To date, the Market has raised over $60,000 for the school’s budget. Support for our vendors will allow Parker School to continue to benefit from this significant source of income.
